K Michael Janr: 14th 1675/6 The last will & testamt: of Jony Quaile als Curghey who departed this life the 29th of January last being in perfect memory. first she bequeated her soul to God & her body to be buried in Ballaugh church yard It: she left to be distributed on ye poor 3 firletts of meale with what was accustomed to be given with ye like. It: to ye minister a mutton. It: she left to her husband John Quaile all her pt of ye lands & houses yt were then in their possession, all her part of ye crop of corne, her part of ye team of oxen & all her pt of all ye geares yt belong unto ye working of ye farme, desireing him to leave unto their son Willm: Quaile not only her said part of all ye lands & houses in their prsent possession, ith her pt of ye crop of corne, teame of oxen, & all geares belonging unto ye working of ye said farme in ye like condition as she hath left it, but also his own pt of all ye said pticulars either at his latter day, or sooner as he should find cause to the same, to wch ye sd John hath fully assented in ye prsented prsence of us whose names are undr written & hath witnessed ye same by his own subscription. It: she left to ye sd John ye riding horse, her pt of ye hay in ye Curraugh, there flaxen sheetts out of ye whole; all ye black russet yarn spun in ye house, her pt of ye brewing pann, & all her part of ye money that was in his custody were is more or lesse, and that none should question him for it. It: she left to Cathrine Cannell her grandchild a cow, a blankt of ye yarn was spun within, formerly intended for her, and this to be paid unto her by ye sd Jony’s executr: when ye child should come to age; & if she died undr age to return to ye executr himself; she de= sired & appointed Major Stevenson to be one of ye sd childs overseers and for soe doing she left to him ye best fledge in her house, & in condieration of this fledge being given, she left to her said husband John Quaile a coverlet; she also desired & appointed Deemstr Christian to be another overseer to ye sd child, & for his care she left to him twently shillings; and if ye child should come to ye state of marriage, and take ye advice of her nearest relations on her mothers side & ye said overseers, that is, to their satisfaction, she is to have ye sd Legacie, otherwise to returne to ye Executor It: she left to Phinlo Carret her son ten shillings & a fledge. To Patr: Carrett a heifer known to himself & a sheet, To Issabell Carrett a keare fledge & 8s yt is in her hand. To Margret Carret her daughter a chest and all here wearing clothes linen & woolen besides what are left in Legacies, and a white fledge unsown. To Margt: Carret her grandchild a yard of linen, a petticoat a sheep and a lamb and a petticoat for her wages; and to all ye rest of Phinlo Carretts children to every of them a lamb of a year old. To Margt: Caine ye maidservant a yard of linen & a petticoat for her wages. To a goddaughter of hrs Donell Curgheys child an ewe lamb. To Rich Mackle= roy halfe a sheet, & yt he should be paid her pt of ye wages due unto him To Issabell Curghey in Ramsey a quart of gray wooll. To Ann Curghey her sister a gray waistcoat.
