In the name of God amen.
I John Lace in the Parish of Kk Marown, being of sound mind, memory and understanding 
but knowing and considering the uncertainty and frailty of this mortal life do make 
this my last Will and testament in manner following : viz.

Firstly I commit my soul to Almighty God and my Body to decent Christian burial.
 
Secondly I leave and bequeath unto my son Wm. Lace the sum of ten pounds British 
immediately after my decease along with one half of the sheep which I am possessed 
of at my decease and along with one half of my Book Debts (?)

Thirdly I leave and bequeath unto my son James  Lace the sum of twenty pounds British. 
Unto my son Edward Lace the sum of twenty pounds British and unto my daughter Margaret 
Lace the sum of twenty pounds British.

Fourthly and lastly I nominate, constitute and appoint my dear son Thomas Lace whole 
and sole executor of all the rest residue and remainder of my goods moveable or 
immoveable of whatsoever and wheresoever situate, of this my last Will and Testament. 
And in consideration thereof I do hereby firmly Bind by these present my said son 
Thomas the executor before named, that he is to maintain  my before named children 
James, Edward, and Margaret in meat, washing, lodging schooling and clothing until 
they arrive at the age of 14 years each and I, the said Testator, do also Will and 
appoint John Kelly, tenant of Cooilinjel, my stepfather ,Guardian or supervisor of 
my before named children namely James, Edward and Margaret along with my son Thomas 
the executor before named. 

That in case of my said son Thomas does not decently clothe and maintain my said 
children then in that case the said John Kelly can take away my said children and 
lodge them at proper lodgings and compel my said executor to pay the same. But if 
my said son Thomas keep and maintain my said children until they respectively arrive 
at the age of fourteen years each according to the intention of this my said Will, 
in decent meat, washing and lodging then in that case my said executor before named 
is to deduct the sum of ten pounds British from their Legacies share and share alike 
for his kind attention to my said children and if anytime my said children should 
want any part of their before named Legacies for clothing or apprenticeship then 
in that case their Guardian is at liberty to pay the same and I do hereby appoint 
my said son Thomas whole executor and residuary Legatee of this my last Will and 
Testament hereby revoking all former Will or Wills and barring all other claimants 
with two shillings and sixpence Legacy as witness my nam this seventeenth October 1832.

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas 9th day of November 1832
Thomas Lace the executor in the foregoing Will named, is sworn in Court in form of 
Law well and truly to execute the Last Will and Testament of John Lace deceased to 
pay all his just debts and Legacies so far forth as the goods and effects extend 
and the Law binds him and to do all other acts and deeds pertaining to the office 
of executor, according to Law and to these ends he has given pledges.
Namely John Kelly of the Parish of Marown and Christopher Bridson of the town of Douglas.
The said Thomas Lace the executor and John Kelly the stepfather of the deceased 
are sworn Guardian and Supervisor of the children under age according to the Will 
of the deceased John Lace.
