The last will and testament of Catharine Kelly otherwise Cowin wife of John 
Kelly of Laxey in the parish of Lonan do make and ordain this my last Will 
and Testament principally and first of all I recommend my soul to the hands 
of almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried 
in Christian burial as for my worldly goods I dispose of them in manner following:
1st I  give and bequeath to my son Thomas Kelly my half of the field called
the Lhen Tollow to be possesed by him at the death of my Executor  and he 
shall maintain and keep my daughter Isabella if so be she survives my Executor
2nd I give and bequeath to my son John Kelly 2s 6d British
3rd I give and bequeath to my son Robert Kelly 2s 6d British
4th I give to my son James Kelly 2s 6d British
5th I give and Bequeath to my son Patrick Kelly 2s 6d British
6th I give and bequeath to my four daughters namely Cathrine, Margt, Mary and 
Jane Kelly 2s 6d British each to be paid them by my Executor
Lastly, I nominate ordain and appoint my beloved husband John Kelly my whole 
and sole Executor of all my goods and chattels credits and effects 
moveables and immoveables he the said John Kelly shall give the two 
youngest of our sons James and Pat Kelly a trade 
and I do hereby revoke and disanull all other wills ratifying and 
confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament this 4th 
day of March 1839 as witness my subscription

At a Chapter Court holden at Douglas on the 20th day of May 1839
John Kelly the Executor in the foregoing will named is sworn in Court in form of law  
well and truly to execute and fulfil the last Will and Testament of Catherine Kelly  
deceased to pay all her justs debts, legacies and funeral expenses so far forth as the 
goods and effects of  the deceased will extend and the  law bind him and so do all 
other acts and deeds pertaining to the office of Ex'or according to law and to these 
ends he hath given pledges namely the witnesses of the Will

Know all men by these presents, that we John Kellip of ........ in the parish of 
Lonan and James Cowin of .......... in the parish of Lonan are held and firmly 
bound to the Rev. B. Philpot, Archdeacon of Sodor and Mann, and his Successors, 
in the sum of one hundred pounds British; to the payment whereof well and truly 
to be made, we bind Ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, Administrators,  and  Assigns, 
jointly and severally, by these presents to the said Archdeacon and his Successors.
 	Witness our Subscriptions, this 28 day of May 1839

Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Island hath this Day granted Probate of 
the Will of Catherine Kelly deceased, to John Kelly.  
Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such, that if the said John Kelly 
shall well and truly administer the  Estate and Effects of the said Catherine Kelly 
deceased; and shall in all things relating thereto conform to the Laws of this Isle, 
the orders of the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the oath he hath this day taken, 
then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to be and remain in full force 
and virtue in Law

Catharine Kelly 1839 Lonan.  She was Catharine Cowin bapt 1770 Lonan d/o Philip Cowin.

The earlier transcription had an erroneous will date (1838 instead of 1839 above the witnesses). 
The last two paragraphs relating to the proving of the will have also been added.
