In the name of god Amen, 
I Thomas Cowin in the parish of Braddan being wake (sic) in body but of sound mind 
memory and understanding and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life 
do hereby ordain as and for my last will and testament in manner and form following:
1 st .  I commit my soul to god and my body to deasant (sic) christian burial.
2 I leave and bequeath unto Ann Cannell Cannell otherwise Cowin the hole and sole 
control of my estate, stock, crops, and implements moveable and immoveable being 
of what kind name nature whatsoever to her own disposal being my wife.
3rd also my estate in Kk Marown Ballagrave but I give to my [blank] Isabella Cowin 
and Emily Gertrude Cowin one-hundred pounds each at her own disposal.

Also my estate in Kk Lonan known as Ballakey and Ballaglass as long as she survive 
then when my son John heir at law shall come in possession, he is to give his two 
sisters the sum of one-hundred pounds each.

At a Chapter court held at Douglas on the 24th day of April 1884’Thomas Coween and 
Thomas Crellin the subscribing witnesses to the execution of the foregoing paper writing 
purporting to be the last will and testament of Thomas Cowin late of Baldwin in the 
parish of Braddan deceased who died on or about the 11th day of March 1884 having made 
oath on the Holy evangelists that said testator Thomas Cowin when of sound and disposing 
mind memory and understanding duly signed and acknowledged the same as and for his last 
will and testament in their presence and that they at the same time in the presence of 
the testator and of each other subscribed the same in attestation thereof.

Ann Cowin in the will written “Ann Cannell Cannell otherwise Cowin” “being my wife” widow 
the relict of the said deceased the executrix according to the tenor of said will is 
therefore sworn well and truly to fulfill and execute said will and to administer all and 
singular the personal estate and effects of the said deceased according to law by paying 
the just debts funeral and testamentary expenses of the said deceased and the legacies 
contained in his said will so far forth as his estate and effects will thereto extend and 
the law bind her and to return to the Diocesan registry of this Isle and diocese of Sodor 
and Man a full true and perfect inventory of all and singular the said estate and effects 
with an accurate account of her administration thereof when thereunto lawfully required 
and to these ends she hath given pledges named Robert Cannell of Renscault and Isaac Cannell 
of Ballawillan both of the parish of Braddan who have  entered into and executed the usual 
bond in the presence of the courts.   Probatum est.

In his majesty’s High Court of Justice the Isle of Man Common Law Division Testamentary 
Judicial at a court held at Douglas the 30th day of October 1937.
It appearing that the annexed paper writing dated the 2ond day of February 1884 was proved 
on the 24th day of April 1884 as the last will and testament of Thomas Cowin late of the 
parish of Braddan deceased who died on the 11th day of March 1884 and that probate of the 
said will was granted to Ann Cowin, the executrix according to the tenor of said will who 
died on the 26th day of September 1898 without having fully administered the personal estate 
and effects of the said Thomas Cowin deceased.
This court hath therefore granted administration de bonis non of the personal effects of 
the said Thomas Cowin deceased, limited to a deed of bond and security for the principal 
the sum of three hundred pounds dated the 4th day of December 1871 granted and passed by 
Thomas Cannell and Ann Cannell his wife, the said Thomas Cowin and secured by the estate 
lands and premises known as Algare in the parish of Braddan to William Arthur Collister 
of ”Green Meys” Brighton Terrace in the Burrough of Douglas  law clerk, and accordingly he 
is sworn well and truly to administer the personal estate and effects of the said deceased 
so left unadministered, limited as aforesaid in terms of her said will and according to law
R D Farrant  a judge of the said Court.
