Archdeacon Will 1688A #69 Lezayre will of John Cottier, per 2 June 168x Articles of Marriage between Isabel Cottier (dau of John Cottier & Mary Jane) and John Cottier 
(son of Catharine Kneale), proved before the Deemster on 24 November 1686, and accepted as a will in 1688/9: 
Summary: wife Mary Cottier alias Jane, dau Isabel Cottier (married about 1686 to John Cottier, his mother Catharine Kneale); witnesses to the 
Articles of Marriage: John Cottier & William Garrett & William Kneale & Daniel Quark, pledges to the will: William Cottier & William Corlett.

Articles of Marriage agreed upon by and between John Cottier in behalfe of his daughter Isable Cottier on the one partie, and Katherine Kneale in behalfe of her son John Cottier on the other partie, as followeth: first it is agreed upon that ye sd: young couble shall (God and holy Church permitting ye same) be joyned in holy Estate of Matrrimonie immediately after ye writing of these prsents 2d Secondly it is agreed upon that ye sd John Cottier shall give unto his sd daughter halfe of all his lands with halfe of all ye husbandrie geares and halfe of all his goods (excepting his cattle and horses) in prsent possession, and halfe of ye other halfe to come to ye sd younge couple of all ye lands and goods aforesaid, at ye death of ye sd John, or of his wife Mary Cottier alis: Jane whether of them it shall please God first to call for and ye other halfe at ye disease of ye longest liver of them 3d Thirdly it is agreed upon by ye sd John Cottier and his wife Mary that if it shall please God to bless ye sd young couple with issue maile or ffemaile that ye right heire thereof shall inherit ye sd Lands, And if it shall please God to call for our sd daughter without Ishsue as aforesd wee give unto ye said young man viz: John Cottier and his Heires all our right title and interest unto ye said Lands forever 4thly Fourthly it is agreed upon by ye said young couple that if it shall please God to lay his hand upon ye sd John Cottier ye ffather and that he shall not be able to help himself that then ye sd young couple shall mantain=== him in fitting maner unto his latter day 5thly Fifthly it is agreed upon by ye sd parties that ye sd John and his wife shall redeem ye one halfe of ye meddow, and ye young couple to redeem the other halfe and to have it betwixt them as above sd: 6thly Sixtly it is agreed upon that the above Kathrine Kneale shall give unto ye sd young couble halfe of all her goods in prsent possessi= =on, and ye other halfe at her death, excepting a cowe, a horse a fir-----[dark] of barley and her own cloathes linen and woollen, and that -----[dark] young couble shall work upon ye halve what land ye sd K-----[dark] hath (them soweing halfe) and to bring her halfe to-----[dark] part of ye hay.
