Archdeacon Will 1699A #17 Malew will of John Quayle of the Gary near the Silverburn, dated 7 January 1699/1700:
Summary: 2nd wife is alive, son John by first wife, dau Ellin by first wife, dau Catharine by first wife, 
witnesses: George Stowell/Stole & John Watterson, pledges: William Bridson & Nicholas Quayle
NOTE, that AW Moore in Manx Names, page 222, indicates that The Silver-Burn is the modern name of the Castletown 
River, and is a translation of Awin-Argid. Also, Silverburn is in Knokorry treen, and is an Abbey quarterland.

Malew January the 7th 1699 This is affirm'd to be the last will of John Quaile, who committed his soul to God, & body to Christian burial. Item, bequeathed to each of his 2 daughters, viz: Ellin & Catherin 6d apiece, and declared that the former was paid all that was due to her by the decease of her mother; & whatever was due to the latter was to be paid by her brother John, for wch he is to have the Gary near Silverburn: if not, she is to have the said Gary (after the profit of the lime is taken out of it) until she be fully satisfied. Itm: to his wife half of an heiffer, wch if remaining after his said wifes decease, is to descent to his son afsd: Itm: to his sd wife he bequeathed the use of all the household stuff whilst she lived in his house, & afterwards to be his sons, in lieu of what fell due by the death of his mother. Itm: to his sd wife half of all the husbandry gears as afsd dureing her abode in the house, Itm: to his wife a winding sheet. Lastly, he left all the rest of his goods whatever, viz: bedcloaths, linnen & woollen, & the crop of corn, with an horse equally betwixt his abovesd wife & son, & constituted them joint Exrs: & to pay his debts equally betwixt them The exrs: are sworn in Court in form of Law witnesses pbatum est et solv---[torn] Geo: Stole X }to be sworn } }by Mr Woods } juratus Jo: Waterson X } sworn [next page] pledges to secure the office & pay all debts and legacies William Brydeson & Nich: Quaile
