In the name of God Amen. I Grace Quiggin otherwise Crye of the Parish of Kirk Michael being 
weak in Body but of sound mind memory and understanding do hereby make my last will & 
Testament in the manner and form following

I Commend my Soul to God and my Body to Christian Burial

I Leave and bequeath to my sons Philip and William Two shillings and six pence British each as 
Legacy

(In the next paragraph every word is crossed out by a diagonal line from top left to bottom right)

I Leave and bequeath to my son John a pair of sheets as Legacy

I Leave & bequeath to my son Thomas two sheep as Legacy

I leave & bequeath to my Daughter in Law Jane Quiggin alias Caine my Tea Spoons

I Leave & bequeath to my Grandson Wm Kelly One Pound as Legacy

I Leave & bequeath to my Grand daughter Elinor Kelly a sheep & Lamb as Legacy

I Leave and bequeath to my Grand daughter Ann Kelly all the rest of my Sheep & Lambs of the 
Female Kind

I Leave & bequeath to my Grand daughter Jane Cannell my Spinning Wheel

I Leave and bequeath to my son John The Crop of Corn now growing

I Leave and bequeath to my Daughter Elizabeth Two Pounds British as Legacy

Lastly I Constitute Nominate ordain and appoint my Daughter Jane sole Executrix of all of all the 
rest of my goods Credits Chattels and effects of what kind or nature soever Cutting off and 
debarring all Claimers with one shilling Legacy As witness my name this 9th day of June 1825

At a Chapter Court holden at Kk Michael 14th December 1825

Thomas Fayle husband of Jane the Executrix named in the foregoing will is Sworn well and truly to 
Administer the Estate and Effects of Grace Quiggin decd. to pay all just debts and Legacies so far 
forth as the Goods will extend and the Law find him and to return a true and perfect Inventory of 
said Estate into the Episcopal Registry when thereunto lawfully required and to these ends Mr 
John Caine and Mr Philip Quiggin both of the Parish of Michael have entered into a Bond in the 
Penal (?) sum of Fifty Pounds British to the Lord Bishop and his Successors bearing equal date 
herewith.

Know all Men, by presents, that We, John Cain in the Parish of Michael and Philip Quiggin of the 
Parish of Michael are held and firmly bound to George, Lord Bishop of Sodor and Mann, and his 
Successors, in the sum of Fifty pounds British; to the Payment whereof well and truly to be made, 
we bind Ourselves, our Heirs, Executors, Administrators, and Assigns, jointly and severally, by 
these presents, to the said Lord Bishop and his Successors.

Witness our Subscriptions, this 14th day of Decr 1825


Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Island hath this Day granted probate of the will of Grace 
Quiggin deceased, to Thos Fayle.

Now the Condition of the above Obligation is such, that if the said Executor shall well and truly 
administer the Estate and Effects of the said deceadent; and shall in all Things relating thereto 
conform to the Laws of of this Isle, the Orders of the Ecclesiastical Courts thereof, and the Oath he 
hath this day taken, then the foregoing Obligation to be void, otherway to be and remain in full 
force and virtue in Law.

Thos Fayle made Oath on the Holy Evangelists that the Personal Property of Grace Quiggin 
deceased, will not exceed in Value the sum of Fifty pounds British, to the best of the Deponents' 
knowledge, information and belief.
