Malew 35 To the Worshipful Vicar General Corlett xx xxxx The humble petition of Isabella Bridson of Malew widow of the late William Bridson of Silverburn Decd. Sheweth that the said William Bridson had some time before his decease made his last will and Testament in writing and appointed petitioner Executrix thereof. That it is necessary that the said will should be proved in order to settle several urgent matters connected with the Estate of the said William Bridson. Wherefore your petitioners humbly pray that your worship will be pleased to order a hearing of this Petition on some early day and to allow Petitioners to prove the said will according to law and she [new page] will pray xxx 16 July 1855 Isabella Bridson her X mark Order that this petition do come on to be heard at Ramsey on Friday [word crossed out] next at 10 O'clock Whereof all parties and persons to have due notice Given this 19th July 1855 T. Court held at Ramsey 20 July 1855 Upon hearing this petition in the presence of the parties or their Advocate and after examination of James Kewley one of the subscribing witnesses to the last will and Testament of William Bridson deceased I am of opinion that the due execution of the said will has been proved and that Probate thereof should be granted as prayed for and the same is therefore hereby so ordered adjudged and decreed accordingly T. A. Corlett [new page] I William Bridson of Silverbourne in the parish of Malew being of sound mind memory and understanding do make publish and declare my last will and testament in manner following. I leave devise and bequeath unto mydaughtersDaughters Ellinor and Isabella my rights and interest in and unto that water Corn Mill situate at or near Laxey in the pariish of Lonan with the rights in the Dwelling Houses Easements grounds and premises and all appurtenances and easements to the said mill, houses, grounds and premises belonging or appertaining to have and to hold unto them and their heirs and assigns from the day of my death forever but in case either of my said daughters shall dieorwithout being married in that case [new page] the share of the child so dying shall become the property of her surviving sister, and in case they both die without being married then and in that case the said Mill houses grounds & easements premises and appurtenances upon the death of the survivor of my said daughtersas aforemsaidunmarried as aforesaid is to become the propertyofequally of her brothers then living. I also leave and bequeath unto my said daughtersxxxxx xxxxx xxxxxmy rights and interests in and unto Eight shares in the Castletown Isle of Man Steam Navigation Company to have and to hold equally between them. I also leave and bequeath unto my said daughters the sum of One hundred pounds Sterling each - [new page] I leave and bequeath unto my sons Thomas and John the sum of twenty shillings each - and to my son William the sum of fifty pounds and to my son Joseph the sum of fifty pounds - and my son Charles one pound. I leave and bequeath all the rest of my personal property moveable and immovable unto my wife Isabella Bridson and I do hereby appoint her Executrix of this my last will and testament according to Law. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribing my name therefore 15 day of July 1854. Court held at Ramsey 20 July 1855 James Kewley one of the subscribing witnesses to the Testimony paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of William Bridson deceased having made oath upon the Holy Evangelists that the said William Bridson when of sound mind duly signed and executed the same in his presence and in the presence of John Kermode the other subscribing witness thereto as and for his last Will and Testament. Isabella Bridson the executrix therein named is therefore sworn well and truly to fulfil and execute the same Will according to law and pay all the just debts legacies and funeral expenses of the testator so far forth as the goods will extend and the law bind her and that she will return to the Episcopal Registry of this Dioceses a full true and perfect Inventory of the said Estate with an accurate account of her acts and findings in the premises when hereunto lawfully required and to these ends she has given pledges namely James Kewley and Thomas Bridson who have executed the usual bond in the presence of the Court. John Cosnahan Coroner of Rushen Sheading for } Sterling Thomas Gilbertson's estate Claims with interest} £50-0-0 [next page - printed form] Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Probate of the last will and Testament of William Bridson deceased, to Isabella Bridson And whereas James Kewley of Castletownin the Parish of [blank]and Thomas Bridson of Silverburn in the Parish of Malew have agreed to become pledges for the said Isabella Bridson for the due administration of the said Estate according to law. Therfore know all Men by these presents, that we, the said James Kewley and Thomas Bridson hereby bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges for the said Isabella Bridson for the due and faithful administration of the goods and effects of the said deceased according to Law. And in her default, we bind ourselves, and our Executors and Administrators to be answerable and responsible to all parties interested in the said Estate or the Administration thereof. Witness our subscriptions, this 20th day of July, 1855. At an Ecc'l Court held in Ramsey} the 20th day of July 1855 } Jas Kewley Taken before me Thomas A. Corlett Thos Bridson [new page] Know all men by these presents that Ellinor Bridson and Isabella Bridson and Thomas Bridson andJohnCharles Bridson Children of William Bridson late of Silverbourne in the parish of Malew Deceased do hereby acknowledge to have received from their mother Mrs Isabella Bridson (widow) Executrix of the Will of the said deceased William Bridson the respective Legacies due to them under the said will namely a Legacy of one hundred pound each bequeathed to the said Ellinor and Isabella Bridson and a legacy of one pound each bequeathed to the said Thomas Bridson andJohnCharles Bridson and which Will bears date the 15 day of July 1855. And they do therefore direct that the said Will may so far as 2 years the said Legacies be and stand Cancelled on Record - As witness their subscription this 4th day of June 1857.
