To the Worshipful Vicar General Corlett The humble petition of 1855 Thomas Radcliffe of the Parish of Andreas Sheweth That some little time back to writing this present month of January Petitioners brother William Radcliffe of the Town of Ramsey Grocer he departed this life intestate and unmarried That it is necessary that administration of the said Estate should forthwith take in account to wind up the same and Petition submits that Thomas Corkill at present agent to the Ramsey Steam Packet Coy. Would be a fit and proper person to be sworn Administrator of the same Whereupon Petn prays a hearing hereof and that your worship may be pleased to appoint and swear the said Thomas Corkill & some other fit and proper person to be Administrator of the said Estate and Pet will Pray [new page] Ordered that this petition do come on to be heard at a court to be holden at Ramsey this day whereof all proper parties to have due notice Given this 25th July 1855 If the Sumner calls others} J.A.Corlett when they can come } At an Eccl Court held in Ramsey the 25th Jan'y 1855 Upon having this Petition and it appearing that William Radcliffe some short time ago departed this life intestate a bachelor leaving his mother Anne Radcliffe, and his brothers and sister the petitioners Geo Radcliffe, Anne Radcliffe, Robert Radcliffe now abroad and Dan'l Radcliffe also now abroad xxxx surviving his only next of kin who are theupon Decreed to be administrators of all and singular the Goods Right Credits Chattels and effects of their Deceased and the next of kin on this Island having requested the Courts to approve Thomas Corkill to administer the Estate for their benefit he the sd. I enclosed 13 postage stamps and shall be pleased if your acknowledge receipt of this document at your convenience - should your fee be more I will remit when I hear from you I am to Sir yours respectfully Thomas Corkill [Slip of paper] 1 March 1855 My Dear Sir I find I have written the name of Thomas Radcliffe the petitnr in the Administration of the Estate of Wm Radcliffe granted to the Petitnr. I have in pencil inserted the words "the Petnr" as an indication[?] and if you wish he to good as to do so in the original and correct the copy in ink you will oblige me. Yours truly J A Corlett Rbt Brown Esq [Printed form] Whereas the Ecclesiastical Court of this Diocese hath this day granted Administration of all and Singular the goods and effects of William Radcliffe late of Ramsey deceased to Thomas Corkill of the said town And Whereas Daniel Goldsmith of the said townin the parish ofand Thomas Radcliffe of BallaRadcliffe in the Parish of Andreas have agreed to become pledges to the said Thomas Corkill for the due administration of the said Estate according to law. Therefore know all men by these Presents, that we, the said Daniel Goldsmith and Thomas Radcliffe bind and oblige ourselves and our Executors and Administrators, as pledges to the said Thomas Corkill for the due and and effects of the said deceased according to law. And in his default we bind ourselves and our Executors and Administrators to answerable to all parties interested in the said Estate, or the Administration thereof.
