In 1874 two petitions were lodged by Thomas BREW, Ramsey, and by Jane BREW als SEDDONS, his wife, “great granddaughter of Mary Brew als Mylecharaine” (who died 1833) to administer the not fully administered estates of Mary and husband Patrick BREW who had also died in 1833.

Note: Who was Jane SEDDON/ SEDDEN/ SEDDONS, born Whitehaven, England, about 1837? She petitioned as "gt granddaughter" of Mary MYLECHARAINE, and also petitioned to administer the estate of Mary's husband Patrick BREW - yet she appeared to have no relationship to them other than through her husband Thomas BREW [Patrick's grandson]. Additionally, she was named executrix of her husband's uncle Patrick BREW's estate in 1864. Was she the daughter of Jane Brew b.1803 [daughter of Patrick Brew and Mary Mylecharane] about whom nothing is known?

In 1887, Ellen Bilbrough married the Reverend Robert Wallace and together they took children to Canada from various agencies, including Barnardo's, and from the Isle of Man Home for Destitute and Homeless Children.

Percy Morton Brew was sent to Canada at the age of 15 with Rev. Wallace's party, leaving Liverpool on 12 April 1912 on the ship 'Victorian', and arriving in Halifax on 20 April 1912, destined for the Marchmont Home at Belleville. His original Admission History included comments about his well being, and that he was immediately placed with the farmer Joseph Tedford. These documents also show that he later left the employment of Joseph Tedford and went to work for a Robert Bullock, for more money.

In Percy Morton Brew's Attestation (Enlistment) Papers, completed when he joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on December 20, 1915, he describes himself as a Farm Labourer and his present address to be c/o Jos. Tedford, Warsaw, Ontario.

Percy died of wounds of the stomach and left arm on May 13, 1917, and is buried in Barlin Communal Cemetery Extension, Barlin, Pas de Calais, France. His name also appears on the Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, 1914-1918 war memorial, and in the Peterborough City Hall Book of Rememberance.
.
To the right are two scanned photographs of Percy, one from Barnardo's, when he was 15 years old, and a second one taken in Canada, showing him when he was one or two years older - probably just before he enlisted.

George Horatio BREW (1898-1984)

He was admitted to the Isle of Man Home for Orphan and Destitute Children on 1 September 1906. Dismissed from Home June 1914. “Admitted with Percy and Reuben Brew. On leaving Home employed by Mr Conibear, Fruiter, Prospect Terrace, Douglas, Isle of Man, and then to Laxey Mines, Isle of Man, January 1915.”

"George Brew" aged 22 and "Reuben Brew" aged 21, arrived in the USA on 8 April 1921, on the ship 'Cedric' which sailed from Liverpool, England. "Place of Residence" Laxey, Isle of Man.

George Horatio initially lived in Chicago, before marrying his first wife, Irene. Because of her poor health they moved to Texas. He changed his name to DREW sometime after arriving in the USA.

George Horatio and Irene had one child: George William DREW of Placerville, Colorado. He was known as Bill until he was 18 [to avoid confusion with his father having the same first name], but has been known as George since being drafted into the Air Corps in 1945. He had no idea that his father's surname was originally BREW. He has three children Terry, Kenneth, and Bradley, eight grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.

George Horatio DREW’s second wife was Julia Rogers. They lived in
Orlando.

George Horatio DREW died in Apopka, Florida, May 21, 1984.
